Federal Environment Minister Jim Prentice recently toured the New Science Centre construction site with TELUS World of Science — Calgary President CEO Jennifer Martin. Afterward, Minister Prentice shared his thoughts about why the New Science Centre 2011 Project is so important — not just for Calgary, but for Alberta and Canada.

“We have close to 15,000 infrastructure projects under construction in Canada today. The one that excites me the most and that I think will have the biggest impact on our future, on our competitiveness, and on young people, is this science centre, and that’s because it is going to inspire our kids, the next generation, to be turned on to science. They’re going to want to be physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers – interested in space and all the things that are going to be critical to competitiveness tomorrow.”
